The Try It Once Mentality
The try it once mentality, we all have heard of it. This is when you go for a new endeavor once to appease someone or yourself by being able to say you have tried a new activity. Is this you? I see this frequently with companies in their social media marketing. I have even heard individuals in consultations say to me they opened a Facebook and have yet to use it! Now we are in a tech-driven world. In fact, for the entirety of the 21st century, technology has been at the forefront. Remove this mentality and put forth effort in your online endeavors.
The try it once saga starts with peer pressure. Your colleagues discuss their stories of opening a social media account and posting. You have yet to create an account. With such high amounts of stress, you give in to opening an account with improper intentions of simply pleasing your colleagues while remaining in a ‘grinch’ mindset. This way of thinking derives from a lack of want to invest in new platforms. I have even heard of one’s child creating their account because they are hip and modern or even grandkids. Really?
Know this; social media is for business. Consistency each day is going to help you grow. Any resistance deters you from innovation and keeping up with the times. Bring awareness to your accounts when you first join by telling others you are now available on social. Ask for help in your colleagues or business trustee to get their opinion. Let’s get over the obstacles on the way of your growth, including lack of knowledge or insecurity, both of which are fixable. Represent yourself and company by posting consistently to redefine your reputation.
