There are some things about the basics that should be obvious, right? Not so. As a marketing professional and business owner, I help companies shape their online presence for the long-run. Essentially Francesca Ragucci Marketing leads online campaigns to fuel business development. That being said, I get into a mindset where the assumption is made about the obvious. However, to my continual experience, many executives are still mastering the basics. These 20-30 year industry pros are the experts in their field, yet social media still miss the mark. As clients and I partner, I make sure they know the foundation of what online marketing is all about or how my company runs things. Let’s talk about some plain and simple tips to elevate your tech marketing with just one notch.
Video presence: When recording a video, let the audience see your entire face and appearance. All too many times, I see professionals who have half their faces cropped out of the frame. Position the camera or phone in front of you at eye level. Do not look down at your camera or up at your camera. The audience wants to view you from a vantage point where they look straight into your eyes, not at the bottom of your chin or the top of your hairline.
Hashtags: Executives tend to get hashtags happy. They search for 100 hashtags and pop all of them into their caption. Instead, select 30 hashtags only and apply them to the comment of your Instagram post. Use roughly 5-7 hashtags on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Twitter and Instagram are the best places to flaunt your tags, so use them wisely.
Interview videos: Here we go again with videos. The business universe needs significant help with video appearance. When you receive the honor of being a guest on a show that airs video, prep you and your space, I know some of us are still rooted home, but that still means you need to have a room that is professional looking like an office. Decorate your space will coordinating business items or select a blank wall as a backdrop.
Bonus tip!!
Photographs: Take pictures of yourself in flattering places that bring out your business. Consider your office space or where clients meet you and grab photographs there. Guess what? All you need is a tripod or family member to capture a few social media-worthy pictures. You can even make a fun day trip out of on-location images by having your colleague go with you. Too many times, I see social media accounts with stock images that are blurry from Google or text graphics only. The missing link here is you as the person who is of service.
Now, that the advice on elevating your online marketing just one notch. Remember, the little things, when changed, makes an even more significant difference.
