The Significance of Written Word
The written word is still essential in today's digital world. The written word provides us an outlet to express ourselves and to share our mission and origin story with prospective clients. You see words on social media, whether they are present on graphics or captions. As a Realtor or a Hotel Owner, you use words to communicate your brand's character, the personality that you have as well as your client process.
You choose words in a selective manner that cater directly to your client. Communication comes in many forms. In the written word, the text on the phone is significant. You are setting the standard of your integrity and courage on social media. You are choosing to create a design with words. You are selecting a font, color, and a logo that embraces your brand. Whether you're with a company and you're upholding standards and integrity within the company brand, or you choose to go your independent direction with branding and start one uniquely for yourself.
Wording impacts visually. The color of the text is impactful. The way you choose to create a graphic says a lot about your character. Social media allows you to communicate the written word in long-form and short-form. By long-form, I mean multiple sentences, whether it's as long as a five-sentence caption or an article that is three full paragraphs. Long-form is when your prospective client chooses to read your article to learn the value that you are sharing with them in this post or article. Short-form is one word to one sentence that is impactful and concise.
A great strategy is a mixture of short-form and long-form writing. Let's take a look at all the platforms that you're on. So let's start with your website. I like to say that your website is your hub. It's where everything about your business lives. It's where someone who has a high amount of interest in discovering you and partnering with your business that's where they go. A website is an explorative journey involving the written word and in pictures. You can express yourself in a new way on your website by making sure the verbiage represents how you speak in person, along with relevant words that relate to your client. By this, I mean adjectives and descriptive words. Your website is you!
Make sure that the copy, the written word that you use, is within your character.
Do you use these words?
How do you talk?
Are you more formal?
Are you more casual?
A well-written website should provoke your entire being, your essence, you in your business without the prospective client meeting you in person. So it is your first consultation. Your website is that first introduction.
The significance of the written word, whether short-form or long-form, the written word helps you to communicate. It helps you to redefine your reputation on social media.
