EP 10 - The New Socialite

Let's talk about the new socialite. The new socialites are social media influencers. These are individuals who attend events and promote brands. They are individuals who businesses want to invite to their events to garner the most positive attention.


The new socialite is now on a mobile device. The new socialite is accessible. They represent a specific lifestyle, whether it's focused around home, health, travel, or another facet. They advocate for a greater good and purpose within their city. They partner with brands exclusively to present their product or service. Social media influencers are on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. They are individuals who garner a more significant amount of followers. I'm talking upwards of 10,000. There's another nuance of social media influencer called the micro-influencer. This is someone who has less than 10,000. However, it has a large percentage of engagement within their posts. 


When you look at their social media, it's curated in a sense. They have a specific theme and a mood that is set forth on the platform. Their photos are aesthetically pleasing. You can tell the images are professionally taken either with an iPhone or a DSLR camera. Each post is presented explicitly in a way to entice their audience and have them aware of nuances within the neighborhood. A lot of times, social media influencers ask questions to their supporters to gather more data. Brands and businesses within multiple cities partner with influencers because they know that this is the new socialite. This is a unique individual who is going to entice the business's prospective client.


Let's use a hotel as an example. The hotel is going to hire social media influencers to travel and stay a few nights. The social media influencer will document their entire journey within the hotel, the lobby, services, food, sleeping arrangements, and even fun surprises found in the guest rooms. This is all visible and transparent through social media. Many times influencers will document their days through stories and posts. They position themselves as relatable to advocates asking what they like and also making recommendations.


No matter your industry, you will benefit from the partnership of an ambassador. For example, you want to hold an exclusive open house for them to take pictures and gather attention around the property. Start the process of researching social media influencers.
